Occupational safety and health OSH , also commonly referred to as occupational health and safety OHS , occupational health , [1] or occupational safety , is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the safety , health , and welfare of people at occupation. In common-law jurisdictions, employers have a common law duty to take reasonable care of the safety of their employees. As defined by the World Health Organization WHO "occupational health deals with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace and has a strong focus on primary prevention of hazards. It aligns with the promotion of health and safety at work, which is concerned with preventing harm from hazards in the workplace. The definition reads:.
